Connecticut is a Southern US state with many coastal cities, rural areas, and dispersed small towns. The small estate laws in Connecticut allow the heirs to collect and transfer the property of a decedent through Connecticut Small Estate Affidavit also called ‘Affidavit in lieu of Probate of Will/Administration’.

The maximum limit for the value of the property that can be settled through Connecticut affidavit of small estate is equal to or less than $40,000. The heirs can prepare and submit the affidavit of the small estate after 6 months of the death of the decedent and cannot apply after 2 years of the death. Always keep in mind that this affidavit should be filed in the probate court of the county where the property is located.
